The annual meeting of the Tacoma Pierce County Genealogical Society was held Nov. 14, 2023 at the Parkland/Spanaway Public Library and via zoom.

 

The meeting was presided over by President Liz Osborn via zoom and it was noted that a physical quorum was present in the library.  Pres. Liz opened the meeting at 6:15pm.

 

The By-Laws revision was presented by Judith Line, and after some discussion and there being no major additions to the proposed revisions or objections to same it was moved by Melody Stepp, seconded and passed that the revisions be accepted as previously printed.

 

D Becker presented a slate of candidates for officers for next year:  Tim Ward for President, D Becker as V.P. for Research, Patricia Gwin for Secretary, Judith Line for VP of Policies and Procedures.  There being no candidates from the floor Mike Jones moved to accept the slate as presented.  Motion was seconded and passed.  We still need to find a replacement Treasurer and we will need a VP for Publicity.

 

No other Old or New Business was presented.

 

Guests introduced themselves and a new member was introduced as Bill Stepp.

 

The program was given by the library staff indicating what services the Pierce County Library system has to offer to genealogists followed by a tour of this branch.  It was noted that several websites are offered by each branch for no charge to patrons.  Printing is also available as well as Inter-library loans.  Robert Baumle of the library staff showed off the physical resources and equipment available.  They offer on-line resources as with numerous links to other sites.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:15.
